Marc Redman sent me this report:
Here are the results of the gate trial we held at the cleanup day. We had 23 riders and 4 teams doing 2 loops of 5 sections and by all accounts everyone had a blast. (must do this again!!)
Each section had multiple gates with a point value attached from 1-5 based on difficulty. The sections were laid out so the top riders could get all the points if they rode really well. (average 20 points available per section) The rules were you couldn’t obviously and overtly cross your line and you had to leave the section with no dabs to collect the points you had earned
Since one team had 5 riders and the other three had 6, the best 5 scores counted for each team (IE low score thrown out on teams with 6 riders)
1st Place – 340 Points Captain Randy Kimmick (121) Mike Hendrickson (67) Don Anderson (79) Mike O’Donell (37) Milt Thomas (36) Curt Thomas (16)
2nd Place – 331 Points Captain Ben Winterer (180) Brian Dotterwick (28) Paul Redman (50) Kevin J (47) Nate Hirt (26) Tom Hoppe (13)
3rd Place – 321 Points Captain Chris Eddy (150) Travis J (90) Marc Redman (35) Pat Hirt (20) Jennifer (26)
4th Place – 239 Points Captain Gordie Boggie (98) Willy G (77) Scott Booth (34) Reid Anderson (7) Will Thomas (17) Don Follensbee (13)
Overall Individual Podium – Upper Level Riders
1st – Ben Winterer 180 Points 2nd – Chris Eddy 150 Points 3rd – Randy Kimmick 121 Points
Overall Individual Podium – Lower Level Riders
1st – Don Anderson 79 points 2nd – Paul Redman 50 Points 3rd – Kevin Johannsen 47 points

The UMTA board met on Friday September 22.
Board members in attendance were Mike Hendrickson, Ben Winterer, Gordy Boggie, Vicky Boggie, Al Gohlike, Jean Gohlike and Marc Redman. The topics presented and the discussion / outcomes are as follows:
1) 2007 event schedule.
April 21 & 22 Theilman
May 6 TBD
May 19 & 20 Arkansaw
June 23 & 24 Gilbert
July 14 & 15 Theilman
August 11 Duluth (NATC National) Proposed
August 18 & 19 Duluth (Haggis Basher)
September 1 & 2 Gilbert
September 15 & 16 Quarry Cup (Central Regional-Non UMTA points event)
September 23 TBD
September 29 & 30 Baraboo (Non UMTA points event)
October 6 & 7 Cornhusker Cup (Central Regional-Non UMTA points event)
October 20 & 21 Theilman (Central Regional)
Considering the loss of our primary riding area, we will have a robust riding schedule with 16 points events (but not a place to call home) in 2007. This schedule is subject to change as land availability and dates are coordinated.
2) Land availability for the future.
You will notice two dates in the schedule that have locations TBD (To Be Determined), and one new location (Arkansaw, WI). The Arkansaw location is the only new land we have seen that will commit to hosting a club event. There are several other locations under discussion but no solid commitments. We must continue to keep our eyes & ears open to locate a new home for the UMTA.Â
3) UMTA Board openings.
Mike Hendrickson will not run for President in 2007.
Brenda Peterson will not run for Insurance Communication Officer in 2007.
4) Faribault Farewell.
October 28 & 29th will be a club ground clean up and fun day. To show our appreciation for the years we have enjoyed in Faribault we must leave the club ground as we found it. Details will follow.

I’ve put up photo album of the final trial at the Faribault club grounds. There are only two-dozen photos there now but I’d like to add to the pile.
If you took photos at the event and want to add them to the collection, send them to me via the upload form here.

If you have old trophies or plaques that are just collecting dust in your attic, garage or basement like me, considering giving them back to the club so that they can be recycled.
Bring your trophies to the Club Grounds clean-up/fun day/picnic next Saturday, Oct. 28. Vicky Boggie will collect them all and store them over the winter.

On Sunday, October 22, the UMTA will hold its final event of the season at the Faribault Club Grounds. (A reminder: County 29 is still closed from Highway 3. See this blog post for an alternate route.)
And it will be the last event held there as we will not be given the option to renew our lease for next season, as Mike explained a few weeks ago.
So be there for this final ride in our 37th season at the Club Grounds. And take some photos for the scrapbook.

Ed Hofstrand continually updates the Used Bikes page, which is for UMTA and WOTA club members only. Trials Bikes are considered from non-members.
Use the Submit A New Listing page to add to Ed’s work load or to have a listing removed.
Please re-submit listings as most may have been out of date and I want to start fresh. – Ed
