World Round USA discussion list; debt reduction plan needed

We’re inviting (via an automated email) all the UMTA members on the UMTA discussion list to join a new discussion list for all things World Round USA-related. It’s hosted via Topica (similar to Yahoo Groups but with less annoying ads).

We’ll be doing the same for those on the WIMN Trials discussion group, as well as posting an invitation to the nationwide MC-Trials list. Anyone else, on any continent, is welcome to join as well.

Our initial discussions will focus on the financials (yep, that’s a link to a spreadsheet with all the income and outgo details.) You’ve probably heard the rumor already, but we’re about $25,000 in the hole from the Duluth World Round. We need a plan to erase this debt… and soon.

So please join the list and join the discussion.

Hixton results, current standings; NATC standings

Current standings/latest results are now posted on the Results page.

The Tryals Shop has the NATC Championship results to date. Beware, tho… it’s a bit of a slow download.

Note that WOTA/UMTA’s Bad Brad Villand is in second place in the Expert class.

Dave Ryhti killed in glider crash

Former UMTA member Dave Ryhti was killed in a glider plane accident last Monday in the Tetons. Dave and his brother Bruce were active UMTA club members for most of the 70s. The St. Paul Pioneer Press article has a little more detail than the Strib.

I phoned Dave’s house in New Brighton this morning and talked to Bruce who’d flown in from San Jose. He said Dave’s body was being cremated in Jackson Hole before being shipped back here. He didn’t have details yet on when a memorial service would be held but said he’d phone me back as soon as he found out. I’ll post the details here.
