UMTA member Matt Wittlief badly injured

From Don Anderson:

Matt Wittlief was badly injured last Friday, at his shop. Someone released a hoist, dropping a truck onto Matt.

Matt is currently in the ICU at one of the Rochester Mayo hospitals. His sister, Jenny Putzier (Randy’s mother) said he is still heavily sedated and intubated. Perhaps that will change in the next few days.

Jenny ran through a list of Matt’s injuries - all ugly - but apparently his spinal cord was spared.

Jenny cautioned - don’t bother sending flowers or such. They are not accepted on the ICU.

Jenny also said she will take calls from people checking on Matt.

New UMTA domain name

We were finally able to reserve the domain name:

umta.org

It’s now our official web address, though umtatrials.com will continue to work indefinitely. Both domains point to the same website.

We’ll keep this phrase in our weblog header:

Motorcycle Observed Trials in Minnesota and the Upper Midwest.

And we’ll keep the name of the home page:

Upper Midwest Trials Association - Motorcycle Observed Trials in Minnesota.

UMTA now a member of ARMCA

It’s official.

The UMTA is now a member of ARMCA (Amateur Riders Motorcycle Association), Minnesota AMA District 23.

What’s the difference between ARMCA and D-23? Steve Ahlers, BSB, says:

“ARMCA & D-23 are one and the same. We have been an AMA chartered club for many years already, but that did not automatically include us in D-23 membership. D-23 is the State equivalent of the AMA, providing similar benefits tailored to the specific needs of clubs in our State.”

We now display all three logos here on our site.
