More Gilbert information

This is the scoop straight from the horses mouth.

All OHV’s must be registered and display DNR stickers. I spoke with the ranger at Gilbert today and he set the record straight. There used to be an exception for competition machines on a closed course but that is no longer the case.

-You can register on site in Gilbert.

-The cost is $38.50 for three years.

-They will sell a plate to mount your sticker for $5.00.

-They will sell you the numbers to identify your plate for $5.00.

Gilbert links

The next event is a two-day at the state’s Off-Highway Vehicle Recreation Area (OHVRA) in Gilbert, MN. Some links:

“An OHV trail connecting the Sherwood Forest Campground with the Iron Range OHV Recreation Area was constructed by the City of Gilbert with assistance from the DNR. This trail permits OHV campers to travel between the campground and the OHV recreation area without trailering their vehicles.”

Thielman trial on Sunday, Aug 22

Matt posted this to the UMTA email discussion list.

Griff

Hi, this is your trialsmaster Matt. I say that loosely because I had A LOT of help and insight from Gordy, Don A. and Greg H. A very heartfelt thanks to them and all of the hardworking crew: Vicky B., Steve Anderson, Gregg S., Brian, Doug, Tyler, Owen, and our test riders Lucas and Randy P.

We have cut in a bunch of new section areas that have not been used before (and some at least for 20 years) that should prove to be FUN and (did I mention FUN? YES!) and challenging for all classes!

Also, thanks to Don, we have a new loop trail to link the new with the old!

We all have been putting in a lot of hours, work, sweat, brushcutting, tree removal, loop trail clearing to make this a stellar event.

Given all the work and thought that has gone into this trial, we would be very disappointed if we had a poor turnout.

So PLEASE come and have some Fun with us on Sunday (You’ll be glad you did.) You’ll want to ride these cool new areas so you don’t hear from someone else how good they were!

Also bring your friends. These and ALL the sections are spectator-friendly (3 all-ride sections are only 2 hundred yards from the parking area and a 4th a short walking distance from there!)

The all-ride sections for all classes can be viewed from one vantage point, so bring your lawn chairs.

The weather is supposed to be clear with highs in the upper sixties/low seventies, perfect for riding.

The riders meeting will be at 11:30 AM SHARP with the event starting thereafter, no later than 12:00.

See you Sunday,

Matt

P.S. If you camp Sat. night please remember to check in and pay them at the campground across the road. Thank you.
