Ed Hofstrand wrote this letter to all UMTA members. Click the images to enlarge:

David just received this trophy in the mail from the AMA/NATC for finnishing first overall in the Sportsman Class for 2005.

We did not anticipate this trophy this year and it was a special treat for us as a family and we wanted to acknowledge your part in this and share it with you.

I would like to thank the UMTA club and the members who made this possible for David. It would not have been possible for this to happen had it not been for the competitive atmosphere and encouragement that you all have provided David over the years. Those who have ridden with him in the different classes from Youth through Champ have spurred him on, encouraged him and helped him have such a great year. As his Dad, I for one appreciate the club and what it has afforded us for a family sport that we have all enjoyed and continue to enjoy.

From all of us, thank you! You are a part of helping David realize his dreams and aspiration in this sport.

From el presidente Mike Hendrickson:

Good News, we will be able to ride our year ending event at Storm’s Ranch! Jean Gohlike spoke with the Storms yesterday and found that we are still welcome until further notice. We will continue to ride there as though each event is the last. Please remember to thank the Storms when you see them, I think we all enjoy the events there.

Two beautiful days of riding and some very close scores made the second annual Gilbert Two Day an event to remember. Congratulations to Trialsmaster Gordy Boggie and his crew for setting up a great group of sections. Those who missed this year should be sure to make time in their schedule next year. The DNR and the City Of Gilbert are eager to have us back next year and we will be able to coordinate with them to make it bigger and better each year. Additionally, Randy Kimmick will be creating a large UMTA plaque that will hang in the DNR headquarters at the OHV Park. Annually we will attach a brass plate bearing the winners names in each class. I know it is a long drive for many of the club members but I believe this event may become a UMTA signature event. For Gilbert results and current standings
