The Gilbert Cup

The UMTA has a large plaque for The Gilbert Cup on the wall of the DNR’s main office in the OHV park in Gilbert. We update it each year with the overall winners (lowest total points over both days). Click the images to enlarge. On the right, the sheet for the 2007 winners.

New photo gallery

I’ve created a new UMTA photo gallery for 2007 photos using Google’s Picasaweb. It has many advantages over our old gallery (2004-2006 photos), including the ability to embed slideshows into a blog post.

If you’re a UMTA member and want to be able to upload photos to the club gallery, let me know.

Fun, Food, & Fame Await in Gilbert!!

As a result of much effort and work by the well skilled, rock hardened, and TRIALS dynasty developing 2006 UMTA Expert class champion Randy Kimmick (and family),  FUN, FOOD, and FAME awaits TRIALS riders in Gilbert this weekend.

Chris Eddy perhaps said it best:

For the regulars that have been going to Gilbert over the last few years, you already know that it will be a great event.  The food that Vicki prepared for us last year was absolutey great and I am glad to hear she is back for another year.

For those of you that have not been up to Gilbert, you really don’t know what you are missing.  About this time before every Gilbert event we try to round you guys up and convince you that the drive is worth it.  The regular complaint I have heard, besides the drive, is that the dirt stains your bike.  Take it from somebody that rarely washes their bike, this rumor is not true.  When I did wash my bike at the end of the year I saw no evidence of Glibert on my bike.

Aside from the great variety of terrain, yes there is more to ride on than just rocks, the Gilbert cup is up for grabs.  Imagine your name forever engraved on our enourmous UMTA plaque hanging in the DNR office.  I have been saving my best performance for this event. (CAN YOU SAY…FAME!!!!)

Need more?  How about our first female competitor of the year?  That’s right, Jennifer will be out with her very own TY175 in the novice class.  Watch out boys. So come on out and join us in Gilbert.  If you can’t make it you will be missed, but we will have a lot of fun and good food regardless.

Calling ALL Trials enthusiasts;

THE PLACE to be this weekend is GILBERT MN!!!!!!!
